Rheinberg filters allow for what’s called “color staining.” By splitting the light coming up through your sample into two different colors, these filters both produce some super gorgeous images as well as allow you to highlight features of microscopic organisms that you could not otherwise see. They are, in essence, colored plastic disks designed to fit both with each other and in your microscope’s filter tray.
